Privacy policy
What personal data Manchester Picks handles, why, which providers help us, how long it is kept and what you can ask of us under the UK GDPR.
Who is responsible
The controller of the personal data described here is Manchester Picks (manchesterpicks.co.uk). We follow UK data protection law, meaning the UK GDPR together with the Data Protection Act 2018. Anything about your data can be sent to info@manchesterpicks.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
Browsing the site: the IP address, the browser and the pages viewed, kept so the site stays secure and keeps working. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in a safe, working site.
Writing to us: the message and the address it came from, so we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Running a business account: the email address you log in with, every edit made to the listing and, for Pro or Top, the billing records. Lawful basis: carrying out our contract with the business, and the record keeping the law requires.
No advertising, no tracking cookies
There are no adverts on Manchester Picks, and no advertising or analytics cookies either. Cloudflare counts visits without putting any cookie on your device. The one cookie we use keeps business owners signed in to their area. It is essential to that service, so PECR, the UK rules on cookies, lets us set it without asking first. That is why no cookie banner appears.
Who helps us
Cloudflare runs and secures the site, measures visits without cookies and carries our email. Its Turnstile check makes sure our forms are filled in by people, not bots. Stripe collects payment for business plans and holds the card details on its own systems, out of our sight. Some of this processing takes place in the United States, under the safeguards UK law accepts for transfers abroad.
How long we keep it
Visit logs: briefly, for security. Emails: until the matter is dealt with. Business accounts: until they are closed. Billing records: as long as HMRC rules require.
Your rights
You are entitled to see the data we hold on you, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its use and, where it applies, receive it in a portable form. Email info@manchesterpicks.co.uk and we will reply within a month.
Complaints
Not happy with the way we have dealt with your data? Tell us first, and we will try to put it right. You can also take your complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which regulates data protection in the UK, at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If what we do with personal data changes, this page changes too, and the version shown here is the one in force.
